What the weather does here
River rather than ocean, so the salt load is mild — but the reflected light and heat off the water is hard on north-facing river elevations, and the humidity holds mould in shaded corners.

The rebuilt homes along the river tend to use dark charcoals and near-blacks on render, which look excellent and are unforgiving. Dark colours on a sun-facing rendered wall move more with heat and show every crack and patch, so the prep standard has to be higher here than the colour suggests.
