- How much does it cost to paint a house exterior in Perth?
- A single-storey rendered house in sound condition generally sits in the five-figure range once preparation, access and two coats of exterior membrane are allowed for. Two-storey work costs meaningfully more, mostly because of access. Timber and previously unpainted surfaces cost more again because the preparation is heavier.
- How often should a Perth house exterior be repainted?
- Rendered brick inland runs about twelve years in a light colour and around eight in a dark one. Coastal properties run shorter — roughly seven years — because salt shortens everything. Timber weatherboard is eight years inland and about five on the coast. North and west elevations always need attention several years before the south side does.
- What time of year is best for exterior painting in Perth?
- Spring and autumn are ideal — mild temperatures, low humidity and long dry spells. Summer works if the crew follows the shade around the house, because a north-facing wall in February can exceed the product's maximum surface temperature. Winter is workable between about 10am and 3pm, and not at all for a few days after rain.
- Do you pressure clean before painting?
- Yes, on every exterior. Painting over chalked or dirty render is the most common cause of a repaint failing early — the new coating bonds to loose pigment rather than to the wall. Where chalking is heavy we also apply a binding sealer before the finish coats.
- Can you paint over peeling or flaking paint?
- Not directly. Peeling always has a cause, and the cause decides the repair. We scrape back to sound edges, feather the transition, and spot prime. Where the peeling is caused by moisture coming through the wall we will say so and deal with the water first, because coating an actively damp wall guarantees the same failure again.
