What the weather does here
Salt from the ocean to the west and the estuary inland, so very few elevations get a rest. Waterfront metalwork corrodes quickly and the timber greys fast.

Canal-front properties are effectively a marine environment, and standard exterior systems underperform there. Where the budget allows we specify a marine-grade primer on ferrous fixings and balustrade, because those are what fail first and what cost the most to put right once rust has got under the coating.
